The wine is bottled after 15 months from the harvest.

IMPRESSIONS
At first sight the deep, intense ruby red colour of the wine is striking, with small violet arches. The bouquet suggests red fruit, rose petals and hints of wet spices. It is soft and warm to the palate with notes of red prune, cherry and blueberry which are harmoniously intertwined around a lively tannic theme. Being fruit of an exceptional harvest, gives it a full, enveloping body, which finishes with liquorice and cloves. The fine performance is completed with an after-taste of black pepper and cranberry. This wine may be drunk immediately or laid down for 5 years. It is ideal to accompany pasta timbale, lamb stew, char-grilled cod and seasoned, pecorino cheese. Drink immediately or keep for 5 years too.

VINIFICATION
We make a strict selection of the ripe fruit in the vineyards. At the winery we de-stem and press lightly into tank to let the must slowly settle at a cool temperature. The fermentation and refinement with solids take place in stainless steel; the wine is put in bottles in mid-January.

TASTING NOTES
This wine is a clear, straw-yellow color with bright, greenish flecks; fresh citrus aromas are intense and persistent with obvious suggestions of Mediterranean flowers and fruit. The wine, which is rich and pleasantly full-bodied, is fresh, persistent and intense; smooth-flowing and offers no resistance to the palate. It is frank, as is this type of grape, and, being also persistent and delicate, it distinguishes itself by its freshness and softness. It is pleasurable not only before a meal as an aperitif, but also to accompany seafood and vegetable salads and with lighter fish dishes.

CERASUOLO

TYPE: ROSATO | REGION: Abruzzo  | VARIETY: Montepulciano |  VINTAGE: 2010

VINEYARD CHARACTERISTICS:
MUNICIPALITY: Scafa, San Valentino. Spoltore and surrounding areas
SURFACE AREA: 30 hectares
ALTITUDE: from 150 to 350 meters above sea level
EXPOSITION: primarily South and Southwest
SOIL COMPOSITION: clay of medium density
TRAINING SYSTEM: Tendone
DENSITY: 1600 to 2000 plants per hectare
AGE OF VINEYARDS: from 25 to 35 years
AVERAGE YIELD: 70 Hl per hectare
HARVESTING: manual

PRODUCTION: 25,000 bottles of 750 ml

VINIFICATION
We make a careful selection of Montepulciano grapes several times during the harvest period. After 18 hours of skin contact, a bleeding of the must and a light fermentation at low controlled temperatures takes place in stainless steel vats; natural stabilization. The wine remains, refining in stainless steel and is bottled mid- January.

TASTING NOTES
The name of this wine, “Cerasuolo,” is derived from the Italian expression for its characteristic cherry-red color; its clean, intense, persistent bouquet has hints which are, at first, the delicate fragrance of rose petals and other flowers and then fruits – cherry, pomegranate and wild strawberries. It is delicately vinous, fresh and soft and pleasantly persistent. It is enriched by fresh-tasting acidity, has a fine body and a fruity finish, where red fruits persist with hints of tobacco and liquorice. It effortlessly accompanies robust fish dishes, grilled meats and substantial pasta or rice dishes, including those with wild-game sauces.
